Don't Be A Slacker, Bin That Wrapper

"Hygiene is there, where Cleanliness is in air"

Worldwide, 1/3rd people don't have access to safe drinking water and 2 out of 5 people don't have basic hand washing facilities. 163 million people don't have access to safe water and 210 million people lack access to improved sanitation. The effect of poor water and sanitation can have far-reaching and ill-fated effects for those who are required to use unsanitary toilet facilities and drink, bathe, cook with and use contaminated water.

"Neat and clean is the perfect scene"
This blog is all about how sustainable management of water and sanitation underpins wider efforts to end health hazards and advance sustainable development of the country. Some measures are:

Educate The Population
People should be educated on how to use better sanitization facilities like cleaning of tanks regularly at short intervals and they should adopt cleanliness habits as a daily routine in their lifestyle.

We should educate people to learn the habit of handwashing because it's one of the most effective actions you can take to reduce the spread of germs. The Covid-19 pandemic taught people that hand hygiene saves lives. People should form communities which will work in strengthening and improving water and sanitization management.

Infrastructure
The waste water should be recycled otherwise it gets drained and become useless. Government should make proper drainage systems so that rainwater doesn't get collected on the road which results in contamination, rather it should get stored in the harvesting pits so that it recharges the ground water. Recycled water will decrease the self- sufficiency on the groundwater levels.

Poor sanitization also has an adverse effect on the national development because workers are suffering from illness and water borne diseases and are not working on their maximum efficiency so they are contributing less in the GDP of the country.

Initiatives are taken by the government like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to clean India, Namami Gange, Jal Jeevan Mission but it will be successful only, when the people will feel the need to contribute in them.

Targets To Achieve
Technology won't do us any good if don't also tackle behavioral change.

Government should strictly impose fine or penalties on the factories who are polluting the rivers. Because 80% of the wastewater is released in the environment untreated and they destroy natures ability to provide safe drinking water.

We should aware the people about the hazards poor sanitization can cause to their life. Survey releases that many people use mud to wash their hands.

We have to develop cross sector partnerships to make sanitation products easily accessible for all at low prices so that everyone can afford them. We should have target to improve water quality by eliminating dumping, halving the proportion to untreated wastewater.

We should organize a cleanup project for rivers and oceans.

Conclusion
As the resources are scarce it's our duty to save water and keep our surroundings clean. People nowadays indulge in blame-game; where they are not accepting their mistakes.

At the end it is we, who are responsible for all this global change and pollution.

Change The World, By Our Drill"

If people will not hold the responsibility, will there be clean water left for future generations? Written By: Shubhangi Gupta
