With the increasing use of computers in society, cybercrime has become a major problem. Advances in technology have made humans dependent on the Internet for all their needs. The Internet has given us access to everything in one place. Social media, online shopping, online learning, working online, anything a human can think of can be done via the Internet.
Cybercrime is unlike any other crime in society. The reason is that there are no geographic boundaries and the cybercriminals are unknown.

This affects all stakeholders, from governments, businesses to citizens. Cybercrime is on the rise in India as the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) increases. Therefore, in this article, the introduction, types, and amendments of cybercrime will be briefly reviewed and cybercrime occurring in India will be analyzed. Then he discusses some steps to tackle cybercrime in India.

What is cybercrime? Cybercrime is a broad term used to define criminal activity in which a computer or computer network is a tool, target, or site for criminal activity, and includes everything from electronic hacking to denial of service attacks. It refers to crimes such as phishing, credit card fraud, bank robbery, illegal downloading, industrial espionage, child pornography, kidnapping through chat rooms, fraud, cyber terrorism, virus generation or distribution, and spam.

It also covers traditional crimes using computers or networks to carry out illegal activities. Cybercrime is increasing day by day, and these days, making money through scam calls or hacking other accounts to get revenge is a new fad.

Types of Cybercrime:

Cybercrime depends on different types of activity. Cybercrime can be divided into three main categories.

Cybercrime, such as harassment, occurs in or using cyberspace. Harassment can be sexual, racial, religious or otherwise. Cyber ​​crimes against property, including computer breakdown (destruction of other people's property), transmission of malicious code, unauthorized entry, and unauthorized possession of computer information. Cybercrime against government, such as cyberterrorism.
  1. Crimes against individuals are:
    • Cyberbullying:
      This means creating a physical threat that creates a fear of using computer technology such as the Internet, email, phone, text message, webcam, website or video.
       
    • Distribution of pornography:
      This includes nudity/pornography (mostly child pornography), and hosting websites that contain these prohibited materials. These obscene things can harm a teenager's mind and tend to corrupt or distort his mind.
       
    • Slander:
      This is an accusation of insulting a person's dignity by hacking into one's own mail account and sending some letters in vulgar language to the mail account of a stranger.
       
    • Hack:
      This means that all data as well as computer programs are completely destroyed due to hacking and unauthorized control/access to the computer system. Hackers commonly break into telecommunications and mobile networks.
       
    • Hack:
      This is one of the most serious cybercriminals known today. Hacking means that a stranger hacks into your computer system without your knowledge or consent to tamper with sensitive sensitive data and information.
       
    • Email Spoofing:
      Fake emails are emails with a false source. It shows that its origin is different from what it actually came from.
       
    • SMS Spoofing:
      Spoofing is blocking through spam, which means unsolicited and unsolicited messages. An attacker steals someone's cell phone number and sends an SMS over the Internet, where the recipient receives the SMS from the victim's cell phone number. This is a very serious cybercrime against everyone.
       
    • Cards:
      This means fake ATM cards. Debit and credit cards used by criminals to gain monetary gain by fraudulently withdrawing money from a victim's bank account. Unauthorized use of ATM cards always occurs in this type of cybercrime.
       
    • Fraud and Fraud:
      This means that cybercriminal activity, that is, those who steal passwords and data storage, do so with a guilty conscience, leading to fraud and fraud.
       
    • Child Porn:
      This includes using computer networks to create, distribute, or access material that sexually exploits minors.
       
    • Threatening Attacks:
      It refers to the act of threatening a person whose life is endangered by using a computer network.
       
Ways of prevention:
  • Use strong passwords
    Do not use and record different user ID/password combinations for different accounts. Make your password more complex by combining letters, numbers, and special characters (10 or more in total) and change it regularly.
