Rape is one of the most brutal crimes on earth and it becomes even more terrible when the crime is committed by someone you've known for years, someone you trusted the most or someone you thought to be friends with.

The existence of these crimes in society is there because of the rusted mentality of people. Society always blames victims that rape does have to be with women's actions. She is responsible for going to the bar, getting blackout drunk, bringing a guy home, and being raped. Society doesn't blame the rapist for not respecting women's consent.

When such absurd action like rape is done by a known person then it becomes almost impossible for women to trust anyone ever again. For the sake of precaution maybe it's good for women to have trust issues.

According to Thomson Reuter survey 2011, India was 4th most unsafe country for women. We saw negative progress in the report of 2018 by the same source. Thomson Reuter survey said that India is the most dangerous and unsafe country for women due to the high risk of sexual violence.

According to statistics of the last 10 years, approximately more than 90% of rape crimes are committed by someone known to the victim. Incidents of cruel rapes and sexual violence against women are increasing day by day.

Aruna Ramchandra Shanbaug vs. Union of India

25 years old nurse Aruna was brutally raped by her colleague when she was menstruating. The rapist crossed every line of humanity. He strangled her with a metal chain and left her to die. Aruna was in a vegetative state for more than 40 years, she died in 2015.

Dhananjoy Chatterjee vs. state of West Bengal

14-year-old schoolgirl Hetal was brutally raped and killed by watchman Dhananjoy Chatterjee. Dhananjoy even raped Hetal's dead body after killing her.

In most of the cases, the rapist's intoxicate the victim before committing a crime. The most commonly used chemical in sexual crimes is alcohol but there are more drugs commonly known as Rape Drugs. These drugs are colorless, odorless, and tasteless and therefore they easily dissolve in beverages. These drugs make the victim feel unconscious. The victim loses her ability to defend herself.

To prevent brutal violence against women we cannot depend on the law. There is a need to change the mentality of society. Men should understand and respect women's consent and will. It is well said by Kurt Cobain:
